What subjects do I tutor?
- I tutor all ages in the core subjects of Reading, Writing, and Math. I also specialize in Test Prep for common entrance exams such as the SAT, ACT, SSAT, and ISEE. I also offer editing and proofreading services.
- For the SAT, I tutor every section: Reading, Writing, Math. My philosophy is to work on improving foundational skills, test-taking strategies, and time management. I have also created proprietary resources and worksheets that will help students target their strengths and weaknesses.
What are my qualifications?
- I have tutored full-time for seven years. I have worked with over 80 students, from kindergarten to college.
- I began tutoring while I was an undergraduate student at the University of Miami, where I earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature. I have spent the past seven years mentoring students and honing my teaching skills.
How does payment work?
- I accept the following payment methods:
- Zelle
- Venmo
- Cash
- Check
Where will sessions take place?
In-Person
- In-person lessons can take place at the student's home, or in public places: libraries, campuses, coffee shops, etc.
Online
- Google Meet is my preferred platform for online lessons.
- To make online lessons most effective, I also utilize Google Docs and Google Drive for sharing necessary files.
In my experience, online lessons can be equally effective as in-person lessons. That being said, in-person lessons usually sustain a greater sense of focus and interest from students.
How long do lessons last?
- In-person and online lessons must be at least 1 hour long.
How are lessons scheduled?
Lessons can be scheduled by phone, text, or email.
You will receive a text message confirmation the morning of your scheduled lesson.
What is your cancellation policy?
- 24-Hour Cancellation Policy
- Please inform me of a cancellation with at least 24 hours advanced notice.
- After 2 same-day cancellations occur, a late cancellation fee will be assessed at 50% of my hourly rate.
Do I offer group tutoring?
- Yes. Please contact me if you are interested in scheduling a group session.
How will I measure your child’s progress?
- I maintain a Lesson Log for every student to ensure that your goals are being met. On this document, I review what we covered in the lesson, how to improve, homework assignments, etc.
- The Lesson Log will be shared with you on a private Google Doc.
Do I assign homework?
- Short answer: it depends.
Long answer: I realize students are often overwhelmed with homework for their classes, so I tend to only assign homework if it is absolutely necessary to achieving your learning goals.
- For example, if your goal is to improve a foundational skills such as writing, then yes, in my opinion it is absolutely necessary that you complete additional writing assignments between our tutoring sessions to help reinforce what you are learning.
If you a student in my SAT Program, then you will be required to complete assignments between sessions.
